Phu Yen tourism potentials

Phu Yen is a province located in the South-Central Coast, at the middle of two biggest passes of the country of Cu Mong Pass in the North and Ca Pass in the South. The traffic system of Phu Yen is quite convenient with national highway No. 1 and Railway crossing the province; National Highway No. 25 connects the province with mighty Tay Nguyen Region, National Highway No. 29 connects Vung Ro International Sea Port with Dak-Rue Border Gate (Dak Lak); Tuy Hoa Airport has the ability to receive large-scale air-planes such as: A321, Boeing 747... which is exploiting flights from Tuy Hoa - Ho Chi Minh city and Tuy Hoa - Ha Noi.

Phu Yen has the coastal line of 189 km with many tortuous and bendy places with mountains adjoins to the sea to create many bays, lagoones, peaks... with pristine and particularly interesting beauty such as Cu Mong Lagoon with an area of 2,655 ha; O Loan Lagoon-a national beauty spot with an area of approximate 1,570 ha; famous foods such blood cockle, Huynh De crabs, oyster, cau vegetables... Vung Ro bay with an area of 1,640 ha which was closely linked to the National historical Vung Ro and the legend of Ship with no ID and Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea. Xuan Dai Bay is a beautiful bay which was linked with many historical events relating to Phu Yen as well as the country. The bay has an surface water area of approximate 13,000 ha and the length of approximate 50 km with various and diversified sea, forest ecology. Vung Lam within Xuan Dai bay was a commercial port of Phu Yen in the past where the first Vietnam-US diplomatic event happened in 1832. Especially Da Dia reef beauty Spot is famous for very unique geographical situation in Vietnam; Mon beach- Dien cape (Dai Lanh cape) is the East Pole on land where welcomes the first sunrise of the country.

The nature has rewarded Phu Yen with many beautiful beaches which are suitable for developing resort and sports tourism types. Beaches have the combination between mountains, beaches with white sand sloped gently and blue sea water reflecting rows of Filao trees and coconut trees. Some typical beaches are Bang beach, Bau beach, Rang beach, Xuan Hai, Nom beach, Tram beach, Tu Nham beach, Om beach, Binh Sa beach, An Hai, Phu Truong, Sung beach, Xep beach, Long Thuy,Tuy Hoa. Phu Yen also has many pebbles and gravel and small islands such as: Lao Mai Nha island, Yen island, Chua island, Nua island... As the results of the survey and investigation, Phu Yen has an area of underground coral of more than 400 ha which is very valuable resource for developing sea ecological tourism types in the future. Besides, hot mineral water resources such as Phu Sen, Lac Sanh, Tra O, Triem Duc with the temperature of from 50 to 700C are very suitable for developing disease curing and health recovery and resort tourism types.

Besides natural tourism resources, Phu Yen is also a land with rich history and culture. Some relics and places have closely linked to the name of historical famous people such as: The Stone Stele with the legend about the route to the South of King Le Thanh Tong; Luong Van Chanh Temple, the Founder of Phu Yen; Patriot Scholar Le Thanh Phuong temple; An Tho citadel were Mr. Tran Phu- the First General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam was born; Chop Chai mountain where the soldiers and people of Phu Yen rescued the lawyer, chairman of the South Vietnam National Liberation front Central Commune Nguyen Huu Tho. The typical features of Phu Yen culture is the mixing, exchanging and combination of Viet-Cham culture with ancient Nhan Tower, Ho Citadel. Especially, Stone cultural relic with many national beauty spots and relics such as Da Bia Mountain, Ganh Da Dia with Phu Yen Ken Da and Dan Da  (Stone musical instruments) with the date of approximate 2,500 years. There are many typical festivals closely linked to the people in the coastal areas such as Cau Ngu festival (praying for fish), typical traditional dances and songs such as Ho Bai Choi, Ho Khoan, Ho Ba Trao, Ho Keo Luoi...; traditional trade villages such as fish sauce processing trade village, Girdle-cake, handicraft and fine arts products production from nails, wood, stone, coconut covers... Phu Yen is also famous for such foods as: Cau River Nail, Cu Mong lagoon crab, Arca, O Loan Lagoon Oyster, Goi Sua (the dish made of raw jellyfish and vegetables), Ocean Tuna and fish sauce etc. which are ready to serve the visitors.

In accordance with the socio-economic master plan approved by the Prime Minister up to 2020, Phu Yen shall be constructed to become a new gateway to the East for Tay Nguyen Region and the province is trying to become a large-scale tourism and service center of the region and the whole country. Phu Yen tourism shall be developed strongly to become a key economic sector, “clean” industry with typical features. The development of mountain tourism is closely linked to culture of ethnic groups, natural landscape and establish the routes connecting coastal areas with provinces in Highland Central Region.

Arriving in Phu Yen

Phu Yen has a quite convenient traffic system with roads, railways, airlines and waterways. Tuy Hoa city is the center of the province which is 1,160 km away from Hanoi Capital, 400 km away from Da Nang city, 120 km away from Nha Trang city and 560 km away from Ho Chi Minh city following National Highway No. 1. The visitors can arrive Phu Yen through different means of transportation such as: Coaches, trains, airplane or ship. National Highway No. 1 runs through Phu Yen following North - South axis with the length of 117. 5 km, National Highway No. 1D runs along beach connecting Song Cau town with Quy Nhon city, National Highway No. 25 and National Highway No. 29 runs through East-West axis connecting Phu Yen with other Highland Central provinces and then connect with Asian Highway through countries in Indochina Peninsula. In the future, Road Tunnel through Ca Pass, Cu Mong pass shall be completed. Trans-Vietnam Railway runs following North-South and stops at Phu Yen at Tuy Hoa city railway station (km 1.197). Phu Yen has Tuy Hoa airport which is about 7 km away from center of Tuy Hoa city to the South with daily fights from Tuy Hoa to Ho Chi Minh city and Tuy Hoa to Hanoi. Phu Yen has many lagoons and bays which are convenient to receive ships. Especially, Vung Ro bay has the ability to receive ships with the capacity of up to 5,000 tons which is under construction to become a large-scale commercial port.  The system of means of transportation is various with inter-provincial and inner province coach stations and big number of coaches, tourist cars, high quality coaches, taxi, buses which are ready to meet traveling demand of the visitors.
